An Oil Sketch is a simplified Oil painting. Elements of the construction of the painting are what show through. The graphite underneath laid in by the artist as the initial drawing is part of the beauty of an Oil sketch. The fact that it is not fully realized is also inherent in the process and is purposely not labored as a "finished" Oil painitng.
In essence, it is a different approach, yet done precisely with the same intent as an Oil painting.
Oil Sketches can be range in price from moderate to high-priced depending on the level of detail.
